Caravanning Territory

Who hasn’t dreamed of travelling in a motorhome? Exploring the world at one’s own pace is a hugely attractive option and plenty of young people, groups of friends and families with children value the convenience and freedom of travelling on wheels. Would you like to form part of this growing trend? Go caravanning in the regions of Barcelona and you’ll discover an ideal area for enjoying nature, history and culture

1. Caravanning on the seafront

Waking up to the sound of the waves is one of the major reasons for visiting the Costa Barcelona in a campervan or motorhome. However, take note! Although in Catalonia you’re allowed by law to park these vehicles in any available parking space, spending the night there or putting out tables, chairs and awnings is another matter. Each local council has its own respective by-laws, so to avoid unnecessary problems, find out beforehand where the municipal overnight areas are located. And, if there aren’t any, go to a campsite! Thanks to the great location of the Bon Repòs campsite in Santa Susanna you’ll soon feel the revitalising effect of the sea breeze. Further south, in the Baix Llobregat region, you can sleep on the beachfront at the Tres Estrellas campsite in Gavà.

2. Caravanning among vineyards

The motorhome area network of the Alt Penedès region is very popular among campervan tourism enthusiasts who appreciate being able to use free public parking spaces that allow overnight stays all year round and not only during the summer months. However, the greatest attraction of this region is staying overnight in a winery. Several wineries offer special private parking areas for campervans. If you fancy trying some D.O. Penedès wines and cavas, tasting local products or taking part in the wine harvest festivities, this is the perfect option for you!

3. Caravanning in cobblestone villages full of history

Mura and Talamanca are two must-see villages in the Bages region with well-preserved elements of mediaeval heritage. So park your campervan for a while and explore these enchanting, magical places at leisure. When it comes to staying overnight, there are three campsites to choose from, along with two public areas for motorhomes: one in Avinyó and the other in Navarcles. They both offer water, electricity and wastewater drainage facilities.

4. Caravanning close to nature

Would you prefer to be closer to nature? Take your house on wheels to Osona! The motorhome areas of the region are scattered in different areas, giving you the chance to enjoy several unique landscapes. In Manlleu, for example, you can take a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Ter River. In Vilanova de Sau you can learn to recognise the local edible medicinal herbs. Meanwhile, in Cantonigròs you can see the wonderful Foradada waterfall. And in Viladrau you can explore the Montseny Space and hear legends and stories about the bandits and witches who long ago lived in this biosphere reserve.
