Pine Tree Festival

Welcome to the Centelles Pine Tree Festival! Head out to look for the most beautiful pine tree in the region, decorate it and offer it to Santa Coloma (Saint Columba). This ancient festival is sure to surprise you!

A straight trunk and a thick round crown. These are the essential characteristics of the pine tree of the Centelles Pine Tree Festival. It’s felled by axe, tied together with rope to prevent it from falling and getting damaged and —to the sound of blunderbusses— is carried upright to the church on an ox-drawn cart to the sound of blunderbusses. Decorated with apples and wafers, it’s then taken into the church, tied facing downwards and then raised to the height of the statue of Santa Coloma. It’s a unique ancient celebration!
