Caves Pere Ventura

The tour of Caves Pere Ventura gives guests a clear idea of the combination of modernity and tradition in which the company takes pride. The winery is located on the outskirts of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, in a lovely home reminiscent of an old farmhouse next to the road. It is a modern, innovative winery of somewhat avant-garde design and meticulous when it comes to detail. For instance, its vinification cellar is equipped with the latest technological advances. Despite its innovative tendency, the company still has a traditional air about it, thanks to underground cellars withvaulted galleries. After touring the facility, where guests can observe the contrast between the two parts of the winery, the visit ends with a tasting of some of the firm's products. The winemaking tradition in the Ventura family began in the 19th century, coinciding with the origins of cava in Sant Sadurní. At the time, great-grandfather Ventura was already working for Codorníu. The grandfather worked for the French group Moët & Chandon and, upon his return, founded the Torre-Blanca cellars. It was there where Pere Ventura got his start, demonstrating an immense talent as an architect of quality wines. This led him to create his own line of wines and cavas and, later, in 1991, to establish his own winery. The company works some forty hectares of vines planted with the white varieties Macabeo, Xarel·lo, Parellada and Chardonnay and the reds Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Trepat.
